Your Questions

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions. If your answer isn't here please feel free to contact us at info@esensi.co.uk

Do you test your products on animals?

No, our skincare products are tested on consenting human volunteers by means of a “Cumulative Irritation Test” which determines the irritation and/or sensitisation potential of a product after repeated application to the skin of human subjects. We do not test our cosmetic and therapeutic products on animals as part of our product development process, or outsource this activity to any third parties, nor have we ever included animal testing in our product development process in the past. We work closely with our ingredient vendors to ensure they are aware of our company values and policies. We continue to adhere to the strict requirements of global cosmetic regulations regarding animal testing, with utmost respect for our customers and environment.

We are proud to have been accredited from PETA into their Beauty Without Bunnies Program .

Do you supply samples of your products?

Not at this time, sorry. However, with the Esensi Guarantee if you do purchase something that you are not happy with and don't notice any visible improvement in your skin within 30 days we will happily refund your purchase. For more details click here.

Can I use Esensi products during pregnancy?

Yes, none of our products contain ingredients at levels which should cause concern during pregnancy or while trying to get pregnant. However, certain products contain ingredients such as essential oils that some women choose to avoid entirely during pregnancy. If you have any concerns at all we advise you to consult your GP or pharmacist and show them the ingredient list before using the product. Our ingredients lists are available on our website. (Just select the product you are interested in and you'll see a complete list of the ingredients used in that product).

Is there any SPF in your moisturisers?

Yes, our Retinol Moisture Complex SPF25 contains Zinc oxide, which is still considered the safest option in sunscreens. It's the only sunscreen recommended by the FDA in the USA for babies. It offers superior broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

You’ve probably heard that SPF (Sun Protection Factor) operates by its own set of rules. And unfortunately for us, the SPF scale is not linear. Meaning, it doesn’t operate in a straight line and higher numbers don’t automatically mean more protection.

For example, SPF 100 is not actually twice as strong as SPF 50. In fact, anything above SPF 15 provides very little additional protection.

  • SPF 15 blocks 93% of UVB rays
  • SPF 25 blocks 96% of UVB rays
  • SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays
  • SPF 50 blocks 98% of UVB rays

So, one way of looking at this is that SPF 50 sunscreen only gives you 2% more protection than SPF 25 sunscreen.

  Are Esensi Skincare products organic?

Yes, just like you nourish your body with organic food, your skin deserves care with organic beauty products. Many non-organic beauty products on the market today include an astonishing amount of scary chemicals. From parabens (chemicals linked to cancer) to formaldehyde to petroleum waxes, an ordinary lotion can contain quite a toxic mixture.

Organic ingredients are those grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, which is healthier for the planet and healthier for our bodies. Better yet are botanicals grown using biodynamic farming methods, which go beyond organic by emphasizing an even more holistic relationship between the soil, plants, and animals.

Are your products vegetarian and vegan?

Yes, currently all products manufactured by us are vegan and vegetarian, i.e. free from any ingredient derived from whole animals or animal parts. For instance, ingredients such as carmine or ectoin are not acceptable ingredients for use in our products as they require the destruction of these living organisms in order to fulfil a cosmetic function.

We are proud to have been accredited from PETA into their Beauty Without Bunnies Program .

UPDATE: Our latest product PHYTO PROACTIV Retinol Moisture Complex SPF25 is not currently vegan but is vegetarian.

Do you use petrochemicals in Esensi Botanical Skincare products?

No, these are often used to make emollients for face cream or found in the form of coal tar for scalp treatment shampoos. These petroleum by-products can be contaminated by cancer containing impurities. A non-renewable and environmentally unfriendly resource, petroleum barely belongs in your car let alone on your skin. Identify it on labels as petrolatum, mineral oil, and paraffin.

Do you use artificial fragrance in Esensi products?

No, any fragrance used is either the natural fragrance of the combined ingredients used in formulation or a combination of natural essential oil fragrances.

Do you have any products suitable for eczema and problem skins?

Yes, both the Esensi Pure Botanical BioActive Oil and the Esensi AHA Cellular Renewal Gel will both work wonders for eczema and problem skins. Give either a try as you've nothing to lose with The Esensi Guarantee.

Which ingredients should I avoid if I have sensitive skin?

Ingredients such as Methylisothiazolinone, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLES), Bismuth Oxychloride, Petrochemcals and Synthetic Emollients. These are just a few of the many irritants to look out for - the list goes on, from silicones to acids to alcohol and more. Just to add insult injury, sometimes even the most innocent of ingredients can become your skin's worst enemy.

None of the Esensi Botanical Skincare products contain any known irritants and can be used on even the most sensitive skins.

Are your products suitable for men?

Yes. Although men’s skin differs from women’s we all need to maintain the moisturisation and hydration needed for healthy, happy skin. Since men tend to have thicker skin and higher levels of collagen, it can be more prone to hormonal sebum production leading to increased breakouts and blocked pores. With the added factor of hair growth men need skincare that can address moisture, excess sebum and hydration. Our active ingredients makes our skincare suitable for everyone, male or female. We will also be introducing a range of new products particularly aimed at mens skincare very soon.
